Purpose

Air Pollution Greenpoint(Purpose)We are engulfed by air;it carries oxygenfor us to be able to function. No one has a quantitive amount of air they own in which they can control themselves and keep it safe, free of purities etc, we all share it. So why is it that corporations, and even other people, are allowed to burn content which pollute it, spread it around (through wind and such) and we all suffer the causes of a lesser quality air. I intend to specifically focus on the Greenpoint, with a little overhang of Williamsburg, area due to the fact that my grandfatherlives there but that’s where I, as well as all my brothers, family members and most family friends lived/workedat most pointsof our lives. Greenpoint was a traditionally industrial area focused on iron work, petroleum harvesting, construction/carpentry work, glass work etc.which has large amount of air pollutant by products. The population of Greenpoint is still very much elder retirement age community with a shift,due to gentrification, to younger adults/couples raising families andentering the workforce. The quality of air canand doescauserespiratory diseases, heart disease, stroke, and lung cancer… all,no matter how severetheaffect, decreasesthe ability for one to function“normally”. Not many people think about the quality of air we breathe but what are the affects air pollution causes on an environment, to oneself, and, if possible, what are the trends and how can wemonitor andmitigate the problem/ find compromise between industry and humans
